How will I be compensated?
MTs are paid for their production. Typically, ACTI pays by the line. A line consists of 65 characters, including word expansions and spaces. Depending upon experience and background, you may be paid at a slightly less amount for any training necessary to prepare you for your accounts not to exceed three months and no less than two weeks.
How often will I get paid?
ACTI pays semi-monthly. The first pay period begins on the 1st of each month and ends on the 15th of each month. The second pay period begins on the 16th of each month and ends on the last day of that particular month. Pay checks are directly deposited to your account on the 7th and 22nd of each month.
Does ACTI deduct pay for errors?
Not at present. While we adhere to the highest quality standards in the business for our clients and our MTs, our goal is for you to be the best you can be, not to penalize you. We appreciate that you need a predictable paycheck and we try to keep it simple. Our QA staff provides plenty of feedback quickly allowing our MTs to learn from their mistakes and become more accurate and more productive. However, in the near future ACTI will be initiating an error formula following AAMT guidelines.
What equipment is necessary and where will I obtain it? What software do I need?
ACTI uses specific software programs which are rented from ACTI for use of license.  Programs require the use of a foot pedal and a set of headphones.  MT's may rent or buy their own foot pedals and/or headphones from ACTI or any other company of their choosing.  Rental rates for all programs / software and equipment is very minimal and is deducted from your paycheck.
What happens if I have technical problems?
ACTI’s systems are designed to provide you with a stable and reliable environment so you can be as productive as possible. However, in the event you experience technical difficulties; ACTI is staffed with trained technical support to make sure you are back up and running as quickly as possible.
How many phone lines do I need? Who pays the phone bill?
For the internet based wave pedal, all that is required is high speed internet access. You should have a cell phone or another phone line available should you have questions while you are working.  We also use an instant messenger to stay in contact with all MT's while they are working.  At the present time, you are responsible for your own local phone bill and internet access
What experience is required?
We require five years of recent experience transcribing acute care hospital medical records, multi-specialty clinic reports, or radiology reports. At this time, we are NOT accepting candidates with less than five years experience or recent graduates of an accredited Medical Transcription school. Depending upon your experience and background, a training period of three months or less is set aside for training and getting familiar with your account(s).
Am I an independent contractor?
Yes. No taxes will be withheld from your check as you will be responsible for all tax withholding and filing. Check with your tax advisor for a complete discussion of the potential benefits and issues related to this option.
What if I move?
Generally, MTs that work at home can keep their jobs if they move. Currently, all our MTs work from home.
How flexible is scheduling?
You set your own schedule. You tell us when you are available for work, i.e., day, evening, number of hours, etc. The only thing we ask of you is to keep to your schedule you have committed to. If you cannot work a certain day or days, let us know immediately if you cannot work the hours you have committed to and if you will be able to work a different time frame to make those hours up so that we may cover your work.  Most of our clients dictate Monday through Friday and require 24 hour turnaround or less.  This should help you in deciding what timeframe you will have work available to you.
How do I get started?
ACTI will email you all forms required.  Once these forms are completed and returned to us via fax, email or mail, we will contact you to schedule training.  Training is typically done by internet, phone and remote connection.  ACTI will ship any necessary equipment prior to your start date and a member of our technical staff will walk you through the setup. Once you are setup, our trainers will work with you to get you started on your accounts. They will provide you with plenty of constructive feedback and make sure that you are comfortable with the account. Again, depending upon your experience and background, a training period of three months or less is set aside for training and getting familiar with your account(s).
